What an exciting and liberating time this June Full Moon bring us.
On June the 5th not only is it going to be a Full Moon but it’s also the start of a full Lunar Eclipse season. The first eclipse starts on friday 5th and the last one ending December 4th 2021. But for the moment get ready for 3 back to back eclipses. The first one starts on Friday the 5th, the next is June 21st and the next is July 5th. So prepare yourself for change. Eclipses bring us inner shifts in consciousness. This one in particular can bring breakthroughs. It is calling for us to start listening to our inner voice and to start reclaiming our power.
The last Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius started in 2010. For me I remember it being a time when I finally started to wake up to my own emotions. I started to listen to what they were trying to tell me and when I listened, I realised how deeply unhappy I was.
So what life changing events happened to you during this time? because this is a key as to what you might expect to experience during this Full Moon and Lunar eclipse.
If something has been left undone from this period, know that this eclipse is showing you what loose ends need to be tied up. It is time for change as we simply cannot be cycling through the same energies or patterns. We have been given the opportunity to transcend these old patterns and start new. It’s time to clear the thoughts and beliefs that are keeping you stuck. A way to do this is to acknowledge our emotions, as they are the key to what is keeping you in the same recurring patterns.
This can be an emotional time if you choose not to let your emotions flow through you. When we consciously choose to sit with your emotions, we allow the truth of what is hidden underneath them to reveal itself. If you are holding into anger, sadness, disappointment or grief, all of it wants to be expressed. The truth is we cannot keep our emotions hidden in the dark; even if you think you are hiding your feeling from others, they are actually not hidden at all. Look towards your outside experiences and environment. Your emotions are simply showing themselves to you through all the people and experiences that come into your life. These experiences are a mirror as to what is happening on the inside, in the shadow part of your nature. When we listen to, honour and love our emotions, this is when breakthrough happens.
Remember that the emotions need to be heard to be healed. Being a Breathwork teacher I have witnessed time and time again, what happens when we express our emotions and not repress them. The healing comes when we allow whatever emotion it is to come up without judgement & projection. We witness it by allowing it to be heard and seen. This is when miracles happen and you are able to break through the life patterns that are keeping you stuck, unable to move forward.
Every time your emotions come to the surface it is YOUR choice if you show up and stay with them. You can either meet them and allow them to flow or you can do what most of us do and reject and supress them. We can come up with an array of excuses why now is not the right time to deal with that particular emotion. We have shame and guilt around them. But if we allow it to show and give it space, then it comes to the surface to show you what is hidden underneath.
When we show up and face the emotion, rather than ignore, you then stop the pattern.
The pattern of denial, the pattern of not listening, the pattern of not supporting it and rejecting. You have addressed something that lies deep within you and therefore you are inviting in change. By facing them you are creating a new pattern and a new way of being. You start to show up in your life.
Its this Full Moon and Lunar eclipse that is opening the gateway for you to look, see and feel all that has been hidden. Listen to your thoughts and feelings, what do they have to say? What has been trying to get your attention?
There is a lot of intense energy this Full Moon. But really what is happening is that it is unveiling the truth that is within. We are seeing what is real and what is fake, both within us and in the outside world.
Sagittarius being a fire energy, holds the vision for the big picture. It holds the ideas and philosophy for the deepest truth. Sagittarius being ruled by Jupiter represents expansion.
So, this Full Moon is asking what do you need to do to expand?
This is an invitation for you; Are you going to use this Full moon and Lunar eclipse to your advantage? Are you going to flow with the energies of expansion and ride the emotions to the depth of where they come from?
However, you decide to look at it, know that in every moment you have a choice. One that is taking you to towards the highest version of who you can be or one that is keeping you feeling restricted and limited.
When working with the emotions, one thing needs to be clear. This is not a time to project onto others. The trick to working with the emotions is ownership. Every emotion is yours. And yours alone. The more you claim them, the more receptive they are. It doesn’t mean that you can’t ask for support, sometimes being witnessed while expressing your deepest emotions, allows you to drop into the act of receiving, we step into vulnerability and allow ourselves to be seen. I have done this myself and every time a healing occurs, deep within my heart.
However, if you choose to navigate the emotions by projecting and blaming another, then we are not claiming self-responsibility and by doing this we are never going to be able to get to truth of what is hidden within the emotion. Ownership is what shifts the emotion and puts in back in motion, rather than stay stuck dormant in the body.
I find music to be the biggest healer when it comes to the emotions. Put on music that suits how you are currently feeling and ride the emotion with the music. Allow whatever to come to come up without judgement.
Get somatic by moving the body and bring in the Breath. The breath is key to moving the emotions through you as they rise.
Get yourself out into nature when you are feeling overwhelmed by your emotions.
Go to the water if you have deep sadness and imagine your tears being carried out into the sea or river, get the body moving when in anger and go for a run or play sport. When you have uncertainty and need stability walk in the forest and see the strength and community within trees.
This current time is asking us to surrender into the present moment. With the world triggering all of us, the trick is to honour whatever is showing up right now, love it and welcome it. Do not ignore. Treat it like you would a child, with kindness and compassion.
And when the movement, the motion, the wave has ended then at the very end is the answer you were looking for.
Start to notice what you are thinking and feeling. Really start to question what is underneath this emotion? If you can get to the core belief it will cancel out all the emotions associated with it.
To navigate your way through this period, here is a checklist to help you work with the emotions in a way that will allow you to grow and flow with them.
Find a safe place to express your emotions. This might be in nature, or it can be a place in your house that you have privacy. It needs to be a place that allows you to feel safe so that you don’t feel like you need to repress them. I find the shower to be the perfect place to let out tears.
Create a playlist of all the music that allows you to express your emotions safely. Have an angry list, a sad list, a list that empowers you and a list that represents joy. Really notice how the emotions move with the music.
Invite in dance and movement in the body. Notice what movements want to come up with the emotions, allow the body to move the way the body wants to move. Unrestricted
Start to use the breath. If your angry, use quick breaths, create that fire in your belly that will allow the anger to rise. Have long deep breaths if in sadness, this helps it to come to the surface and gives you time to nurture and console yourself. If you need to get centred just focus on the heart and breathe into that. It is amazing what happens when we listen to the heart.
And lastly, have gratitude. Bless the emotions; love them for the teaching and the wisdom they hold. Like us they just want to be heard and seen and when we do that, they are like a happy child. Fulfilled, recognised and feeling whole.
