When the Moon is full it’s always a time for illuminating and amplifying our emotions, dreams and fears. This month we have the moon full on the 7th of May.
A full moon in Bali is always an invitation for ceremony. Villages gather together in a ritual that has been passed down through generations, where they make ceremonial offerings to the gods and spirits of their ancestors and the land of Bali.
Everyday they express their gratitude for what they have while asking to restore balance between the gods, man and nature.
One of the most sacred days in Bali is the full moon or as the Balinese would call it ‘purnama’.
The Full Moon to the Balinese is always when the moon has its strongest energy and is the most powerful and magical. During this time they ask the moon to help them release what no longer serves them, they ask for help to let go.
This full moon is in Scorpio. With Scoprio being a water sign, this full moon in particular is asking us to look at our emotions. As whenever we hold onto negative feelings about a person or situation causes us to create karma. During this time we are being asked to transform & transmute our Karma as well as manifest our spiritual aspirations.
It has been said that when Buddha attained his enlightenment it was when the Full moon was in Scorpio. So this is a special time, Look at it as an invitation for you to attain your own enlightenment by working with your fears and releasing them to the power of the moon.
Try this full moon ritual to releasing past karma;
Full Moon Ritual
You need: Pen, paper, matches, candle, two small bowls, water
Try to do this outside under the full moon, if you cannot be outdoors find a quite place indoors.
Create a sacred space. Find a quiet place to sit and place whatever items bring you comfort next to you.
Light a candle, fill one small bowl with water – place both in front of you, along with empty bowl.
Take a few deep breaths, centre yourself and begin to write on a piece of paper what you want to release from your life, what limited beliefs you want to be free from and what no longer serves you that you wish to let go of.
When finished sign and date the page.
Breath into your heart and declare, “I now let this go, and so it is” then light the paper with the candle flame then throw the page into the empty bowl as it burns) watching the flames consume what you are releasing. Really feel the thing you needed to let go off, be released. Only when you are ready to let go will the page burn, the faster the flame, the more you are ready to let it go.
Give thanks for the lessons you received from this person or experience. Place your hands in the bowl of water. Signifying the cleansing of the old and opening to the new. Spend this time now thinking about the things that you would like to create in your life.
Remove your hands from the water and take a deep breath. Sit in silence for a moment and thank the moon for helping you to let go.
